the recording studio
Is fully digital with a Tascam DM3200 digital mixing console linked to a MAC running Logic Pro and a PC running Samplitude.
We use Rode MT5, SE Electronics SE1A, Audio Technica AT2020, CAD M177, Shure SM 57 & SM 58 & Sennheiser MD421 microphones with K&M/Beyer-Dynamic microphone stands. If you have specific microphones you would like to use for recording that are not listed here, this can be arranged in consultation with our engineers.

If you would prefer to go the analogue route we have a 16 track Fostex reel to reel recorder which can be used for part or all of the recording.
Along with a large number of software plug-ins, we also have a range of outboard equipment such as effects and preamps which are available for use.
Our live rooms, vocal booth and control room are purpose built and designed by acclaimed acousticians for the optimal recording and production environment. They are all serviced by silent running air-conditioning.
Your finalised recording will be mastered down onto CD or DAT and we can offer a number of post production services in discussion with The Session Staff.
The studio is suitable for the recording of any sort of performance or spoken word, and the service we provide can be adapted to your needs. You can book the studio in consultation with the staff at The Session and we will provide an engineer if required.
There is comfortable furniture and complementary tea and coffee.
Please note that all recording work to be undertaken at The Session must be supervised by our staff, even if you will be using your own engineer.
